strong and connected community committed to change. Advising gives me a
chance to bring more students into community service and help them discover
the benefits.
MEREDITH

Year in School: 4th
Major: Architecture, minors in Spanish and Sustainability studies
Community Involvement: I have done a variety of volunteering,
some long term, some short. The organizations I have been most involved
with are Habitat for Humanity, Free Arts Minnesota, People Serving People,
and Children's Home Society and Family Services. I will soon be working
with Aprendamos Computacion through a service-learning class.
Quote: The best way for a community to grow is to give everyone a chance to
be involved. Through volunteering students can apply the knowledge that
they've acquired from their education to something bigger than
themselves and at the same time learn more about the world around them. As
an adviser I hope to make this more feasible for other students by finding
organizations that they can contribute to.
