Ways to Social Change: Dialogue
This month's theme, Dialogue, focuses on elections, voting, formal political activities, community building, and deliberative dialogues. Throughout the month, we will be encouraging students to vote in the upcoming local election and to get involved in election education. During our headline event, Elections: How should we safeguard and encourage voting?, we will host a deliberative dialogue exploring the pros and cons of proposed changes to the US Election system.

Headline Event:
Elections: How Should we Safeguard and Encourage Voting?
October 4, 6:00-7:15pm (Central)
During this discussion-based event we will focus on potential changes to the election system. While many agree that it should be changed, there is great disagreement about how and even what the goals of the election system should be. Join us at this event to discuss this and to talk about how issues within it have been identified and how they can be fixed through a framework provided by the National Issues Forum. After going through the pros and cons of three different options for changing our election system, we will open up the discussion for posing questions to the group as well as to Professor Daniel Myers. Finally, we will discuss the importance of local elections in creating social change.
